The LKW 0,5 t tmil gl Iltis light truck is a versatile, all-wheel-drive, off-road vehicle that replaced variants of the Munga light truck in the Bundeswehr from 1978 onwards. Three basic variants of the Iltis were procured by the Bundeswehr:

° Lastkraftwagen, Mehrzweck-, 0,5 t tmil gl, 4x4 light truck
as a base for various mission kits
° Lastkraftwagen, Mehrzweck-, 0,5 t tmil gl, 4x4 für Einbausatz SAN
for the medical mission kit, and
° Lastkraftwagen, Mehrzweck-, (Turbodiesel-Motor) 0,5 t tmil gl, 4x4
turbo-diesel light truck.

The present publication describes the development history of the Iltis, its technology, variants and various mission kits in great detail using many hitherto unpublished photographs. Also included are other user nations.
